When God is Silent

God is Silent, I’ll be patient;

Always listening for His voice.                                                    Isaiah 30: 21

Though my faith be sorely tested,

I will cling to Him by choice.

There are days I pray for guidance,

And He seems so far from me.

Now His promise gives me courage,

“I will never part from thee.”                                                     Hebrews 13: 5

I have found the real secret,

God has messages so clear.

But my selfish heart has wandered;

I must tune again to hear.

Faith will grow by trusting Jesus;

Man must follow without sight.

Answers come while walking with Him;

He’s “The way, The Truth, The Life.”                                        John 14: 6

I will ever trust God’s leading;

He holds high the Torch for me.

As I daily read His letter,

Light will dawn—I soon will see!                                                Psalm 119: 105 & 130

“Former Addict RUNS To God”

Thank You God for Your sunshine,

And Thank You for times of rain.

Some days are filled with painful loss;

You can turn them for me again.

It’s really hard to think this way,

When my future looks dreary and bleak;

But then I take the time to look

To God—His plan to seek.

I read today, ”You can find the Lord.”              (Jeremiah29:13)

The way unfolds to me.

Right now my path is headed where

Only by Faith I will see.

I’m sitting here and struggling,

With what I’m going to do.

I need a FORCE outside myself—

It’s either drugs, or YOU !

O help me God to trust in YOU,

Through this dark day of rain.

I’ve found that peace arrives for me,

As I beat this battle with pain.

I’m peaceful now, the choice is made

To find in YOU my POWER.           (2 Corinthians 12: 9)

 I’ll never need synthetic aide;

 I’ll keep You with me ev’ry Hour!

Trust Him—He Strengthens Your Faith

I often seek God’s plan for me,

But He moves in ways unknown.

He does reveal at times His strength;

Since I claim to be His own.

Some days He seems so far away,

Then doubts and fears creep in.

The devil comes to derail God’s work,

And destroy my Faith in Him.

Satan paints a dream of wealth and fame,

To confuse SALVATION’s plan.

But I claim the many promises,

Contained in God’s Word to man.

I am thankful I can trust my God;

He walks through hard times with me.

As Faith increases day by day,

He brings strength, you’ll see!

God’s Arms Open Wide

Many are strug’ling & hurting today,

Feeling rejected with home far away.

Longing to leave grief & troubles behind,

Trying so hard acceptance to find.

                                            *But the Father stands with His arms open wide,

“Welcome My child, it is safe to confide.”

        Some think of childhood, & remember the pain,

Searching for sunshine, finding only the rain;

Learning too soon things a child shouldn’t know;

Trying to hide with nowhere to go.

  *But the Father stands with His arms open wide,

“Run to Me child, it is safe to confide.”

I feel His arms encircling my heart.

     In the warmth of His presence I can make a new start.

Eyes that were sad & fixed on the ground,

     Are raised in thanksgiving for the lost has been found.

Lord, Only You can Calm My Storm!

An awesome Bible story tells of Jesus and some friends travelling in a boat on the Sea of Galilee.

A huge windstorm swept over the water. The boisterous waves were filling the boat. They were sinking fast! So His friends shook Jesus from His nap saying, “Master You must save us; we will drown!” Jesus stood up; rebuked the wind; and commanded the sea, “Peace be still!”

And immediately the violent wind ceased, and there was a great calm over the water. (Mark 4)

I’m told that God can calm my storm;

I wonder how He can!

I’ve tried so many times myself,

Since life for me began.

That “fix” these days controls all things,

‘cause nothing else has worked

To solve the conflicts which I have;

The failures that I face.

My storm has come in many forms—

Sometimes “the bottle” wins.

With max addiction from my drugs;

 I’m shackled once again.

I try to make another start;

The plans don’t ever gel.

No job in hand to meet the bills;

“Old friends” lead me to hell !

That’s the picture of my storm;

I have a lot of stress.

Depression looms on ev’ry side,

And life is sure a mess.

I guess I need to turn to God,

And let HIM give me peace.

Now since I’ve given HIM my heart,

I see my storm has ceased!

Hope From The Healer

You can find new hope in the Healer today;

It is found when you look to the Lord.

And never a soul is turned away,

Though gold they cannot afford.

The child within was trapped inside

His heart, and no one did care.

The cry continued for peace of mind;

He had searched in vain everywhere.

He felt that day like giving up,

His self-esteem was gone!

The doubts, the fears, and other foes

Had taken away life’s song.

He felt the pain of loneliness;

Other folk did not understand.

But The Savior promised special HOPE,

For all who will trust His hand.

Then he discovered it safe to give God the doubts,

‘Cause his hurt would not come to an end.

We too must believe God has offered to be

Our closest earthly friend.

 I can see right now God has changed his life;

He finds meaning for each new day.

Your own sad heart can find in God,

This HOPE He offers today!

The God Who Heals

My Loving Lord,

What a beautiful feeling to know Your special touch today.

 All my aches and pains, my doubts and fears seem to melt away

 as I reach out to grasp Your hand.

You bring healing by drawing families together who have pulled in

Different directions. Strife is calmed like that stormy Sea of Galilee

By Your powerful words, “PEACE BE STILL.”

I can feel this calming influence right now!  It causes me to be at peace

With myself.  It urges me to share with others the news that healing

Accompanies Your touch.  You change depression to courage,

doubt to faith, despair to hope, discord to harmony.

All these miracles are happening since I am trusting Your power.

 It is Your touch that changes my attitudes, and my response patterns.

Lord, may I continue to feel Your healing power every hour of the day.

The Forgiving Waves of His Love

God’s Power is seen in the ocean wave,

As it washes upon the shore.

And I know that His presence is here today,

To keep me forevermore

There are times that I feel overwhelmed with sin,

And then fear takes hold of my heart.

But the Lord in His love has the power to save,

Having faith is the sole human part.

I can feel His love rolling over me,

Through the channels of heart and mind.

Now I know that those footprints of sin are gone,

And my future is silver-lined.

May His cleansing pow’r sweep over me,

And erase every stain of sin.

As each recedes to the sea of His love,

Lo, His peace comes to dwell within!

God of a Second Chance

Dear God,

I am amazed that You are the God of a second chance!

Wow, what a promise expressed in Scripture.  “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”  (Ezekiel 36: 26, NIV)

 You have never stopped working to soften my hard heart.

Thank You for NOT giving up on me.

A lot of people in my family, as well as my friends all agree on this one: “That person is hopeless. He/she will never turn around from that life of anger against everyone. It is a lost cause!”

Yes, I was considered by everyone to be past the point of no return.  Even within myself I knew there was no way that I could discover even a little bit of self-esteem.

AND THEN, Your unbelievable message hit me!  I could not believe it.   Now the light is breaking through the dark clouds.

Your loving ways have touched my heart of stone.  I am in awe at the new feeling sweeping over me.  I‘m accepting Your offer of salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. (Galatians 2:20)

I treasure the special promise in Scripture for a totally different outcome.  “My eyes are on the Lord, for only He will release my feet from the snare (trap)” (Psalm 25:15, NIV)

Please take care of me, God.  I really do need You.
